Should I measure my space or can someone help me with measurements?
At Lawrence Interiors, our staff is specially trained to accurately measure your rooms and calculate the material needed for your project. One of our sales professionals will come to your home and take precise measurements and only after the figures have been carefully double-checked will the necessary products be ordered. In addition, we will always configure the best way to install the material to minimize seams and waste so you receive the best value for your money.
Will I need to move my furniture and furnishings prior to installation?
All furniture should be removed prior to installation. Our staff is happy to assist you by providing this service, however an additional charge would be incurred. For bedrooms, please strip bedding and remove all items from closet floors. Waterbeds must be emptied and removed prior to installation, and all beds that require assembly must be disassembled and reassembled by you. For your own protection and peace of mind we strongly suggest that you personally remove the following:
- Glass, marble or slate table tops
- Dishes, vases and crystal
- Audio/visual equipment
- Grandfather or weight/pendulum-driven clocks
- Collectibles and antiques
- Pool tables
Will I need to move my appliances prior to installation?
Please have all gas and water lines disconnected prior to installation as we are unable to provide this service. All items should also be removed from your refrigerator prior to installation and all appliances should be moved out of the installation area.
What should I do with my existing floor if it is being replaced?
Lawrence Interiors will remove and dispose of all existing carpet, pad, and ceramic tile floor coverings for an additional charge. If you choose to remove and dispose of materials yourself, we are happy to provide the information needed to successfully complete this work. Removal and installation of floor coverings may cause some minor damage to your walls and baseboards, which you may want to touch up after the installation is complete. Federal regulations prohibit us from removing any vinyl flooring which may contain asbestos. Therefore, we recommend installation of new approved underlayment directly on your existing floor.
What if an issue arises that was not visible prior to the existing floor being removed?
Any substrate damage not clearly visible at time of estimate may cause a delay in completion and result in additional labor and material charges. Any costs incurred due to failure of existing plumbing or
gas lines, valves or fixtures, etc. and damages caused by such failure during the course of normal installations will be the responsibility of the owner.
How should I prepare my utilities for installation?
Please ensure that power will be available for electrical tools and that adequate lighting is present at all times during installations. Please ensure that the temperature inside the job site is approximately 68 degrees as this is the ideal temperature for installation of floor covering materials. Please be prepared to provide a sheltered ceiling area during freezing weather or inclement weather. This is necessary for ceramic, wood and laminate products. Lawrence Interiors is not responsible for removal and/or replacement of telephone or alarm wires installed along the perimeter of the floor beneath the existing floor covering.
Will my doors need to be removed for installation?
It is sometimes necessary to remove doors. There is, however, always the possibility that after the installation is complete, the doors may not clear and swing free. Lawrence Interiors will remove the doors for installation and rehang them if possible. However, we regret that we are unable to plane or cut doors down as this requires equipment and expertise best provided by a carpenter.
Is there anything else I should do to prepare for installation?
Prior to installation, please discuss with your design consultant any special conditions or concerns you have. The best time to resolve these issues is before they arise.
Will there be a mess to clean up after the installation is complete?
Our installers will clean up any mess left as a result of the installation, leaving you free to enjoy your new space worry-free! However, after a new installation there are usually waste materials. All waste materials will be disposed of before we leave your home. Removing these materials will incur an extra charge.
Is there a risk of damage to my home during the installation?
Please inspect the installation before the installers leave your home. It is much more convenient to correct small problems while the installer is there.
What can I do to protect my new floors from damage while moving my furniture back into place?
If you will be moving furniture and appliances back into position after your installation is complete, it is imperative that you protect your new floor. Place a piece of underlayment board, plywood, or heavy cardboard under the object being moved. Without moving the board, slide, roll or ‘walk’ the object over it. Follow with additional pieces of board as needed until the object is in position. This may prevent permanent damage in the form of scratches, grooves, tears, and breaking of your flooring material.
